Jumping rope was a staple of Muhammad Ali's training routine. In addition to being known as "The Greatest," Ali was also one of the most prolific rope jumpers in sports history. It figures, as jumping rope is an iconic boxing drill for good reason. It combines cardio, coordination, dexterity, and footwork all in one exercise. Having rope jumping as a major part of his training allowed Ali to outlast so many of his opponents due to his superior cardiovascular endurance. Ali used numerous jump ropes while training during his career; however, this leather rope is unique in that it has metal weighted handles. Ali's usual training ropes featured either wood or plastic handles, making this rope one of the rarest examples used during his career. The rope is accompanied by a signed letter from Muhammad Ali's daughter, Hana Ali. The letter confirms Ali's ownership and use of the rope in the 1970's
